Mobile App Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Televizyon Lakay applications for iOS / iPadOS / tvOS and for Android. Our website is covered separately by the website Privacy Policy; where the two differ, this page governs the apps.

The apps let you play live Haitian radio stations and TV channels. Most of what is in them is free and supported by advertising; an optional Premium subscription removes the ads and unlocks the rest. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell your data, and you can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time.

Information You Give Us

An account is optional — you can browse and play everything without one. If you choose to create one, we ask for:

• Email address — your sign-in identity, and how we send you verification and password-reset messages.
• Name — so we can address you properly in the app and in email.
• Date of birth — used to confirm you meet our minimum age. See Children's Privacy below.
• Password — if you sign up with email. It is handled by Google Firebase Authentication and stored only as a salted hash. We never see it, and neither can anyone who reads our database.

You may instead sign in with Google. In that case Google confirms your identity to us and shares your email address and name. Google does not share your Google password with us.

Information Collected Automatically

• IP address — recorded at sign-up and sign-in, attached to the account, to detect abuse and account takeover.
• Device and app information — device model, operating system version and app version, used to diagnose crashes and playback failures.
• Usage data — which stations and channels get played, and general app activity, in aggregate.
• Advertising identifier — the Apple IDFA or Android Advertising ID, used only for advertising, and only where you have permitted it. On iOS we must ask through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and if you decline, the identifier is not used.
• Location — your country is derived from your IP address to apply broadcast licensing restrictions. Separately, the apps request an optional device-location permission, read only while the app is open, used for regionally relevant content and for geographically relevant advertising. It is never requested at start-up, we do not track location in the background, and the app works fully if you refuse. See Device Permissions below.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Premium is optional. If you never buy it, nothing in this section applies to you.

We never see your payment details. The purchase happens inside Apple's App Store. Your card, your Apple Account and your billing address are handled by Apple and are never sent to us — we could not see them if we wanted to.

What we do receive is Apple's signed record of the transaction: which subscription product was bought, when it expires, and an identifier Apple uses for that subscription. We check Apple's signature on it, and store the product, the expiry date and that identifier against your account.

Why we store it at all: so the subscription follows your account rather than one phone. It is what lets you sign in on televizyonlakay.com and watch on a computer, and what lets you restore the subscription on a new device. The identifier is also how we make sure one subscription unlocks one account rather than being passed around.

If you delete your account, this record is deleted with it. Deleting it does not cancel the subscription — only Apple can do that, in your Apple Account settings — so cancel there first if you no longer want to be charged.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not access your contacts, health data, SMS or call logs, and we do not read the contents of your files. We do not use your microphone. We do not record what you listen to and tie it to your name for advertising. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers. The camera, photo library and calendar permissions listed below are optional and feature-triggered — nothing from them is uploaded to or stored on our servers.

Device Permissions the App Requests

This is the complete list of permissions the applications declare, what each is for, and whether you can refuse it. Anything marked optional is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and refusing does not stop you listening to radio or watching TV. You can change any of them later in your device settings.

Needed for the app to work.

• Network access — to load the app and connect to streams. Required.
• Network state — to detect whether you are online. Required.
• Background service — to keep the app running while playback continues.
• Background audio playback — so radio keeps playing when you leave the app or lock the screen. This is core to how the app is used.
• Screen state — to keep the screen awake during video and release it when playback stops.
• Start on boot / event reception — so scheduled notifications and playback controls still work after a restart.
• System communication management — so playback responds correctly to calls, headphones, Bluetooth, car systems and lock-screen controls.

Notifications.

• Push notifications — optional. New channels and service changes. You are asked first and can revoke at any time.
• Vibration — optional. Only accompanies a notification you already agreed to receive.

Advertising. Advertising is what keeps the app free. These are used only for advertising and only where you have permitted it. On iOS we ask through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, the advertising identifier is not used for tracking.

• Advertising identifier (Apple IDFA / Android Advertising ID) — to limit repeated ads and, with permission, personalise them. You can reset or limit it in device settings.
• Advertising attribution — to measure whether an ad led to an install or an action.
• Conversion information — aggregated advertising performance measurement.
• Topics API (Android) — Google’s on-device interest signal for ads. It runs on your device and can be switched off in Settings › Google › Ads.

Optional, tied to specific features. These belong to features available on our app platform. They are never requested at start-up, only when you use the relevant feature, and the app is fully usable if you refuse every one.

• Device location, while the app is open — optional. Used to make the app relevant to where you are: which stations and channels we surface, the weather panel on the home screen, and geographically relevant advertising. It is requested only when you use a feature that needs it, never at start-up, and is read only while the app is open — there is no background tracking and no location history. Your country is separately derived from your IP address to apply broadcast licensing restrictions. Refuse it and the app still works in full; you will simply see less locally relevant content and advertising.
• Camera — only where a feature asks you to scan a code or take a picture.
• Photo library (read) — only when you choose to pick an existing picture.
• Photo library (write) — only when you ask the app to save an image.
• Calendar — only if you choose to add an event to your own calendar.

Not requested at all: microphone, continuous camera access, general device file storage, contacts, health data, SMS, call logs, and precise background location.

Service Providers

We rely on a small number of third parties, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) — accounts and profile data.
• Google AdMob / AdSense — advertising, which is what keeps the apps free.
• Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement.
• Apple and Google — app distribution, crash reporting, and push notification delivery.
• Independent broadcasters — whose stream servers you connect to directly when you press play.

Third-Party Streams

Televizyon Lakay is a directory. When you play a station or channel, your device connects directly to that broadcaster's server, which will see your IP address. Those broadcasters are independent of us, we do not control them, and their handling of your data is their responsibility, not ours.

Push Notifications

If you allow notifications, we may send occasional messages about new channels or service changes. Permission is requested in the app, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings without losing any other functionality.

Children's Privacy

The apps are not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, which is why we ask for date of birth at sign-up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Data Retention

Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. When you delete your account it is removed from our live systems immediately and from routine backups within 30 days. Aggregate analytics that cannot identify you may be kept longer.

Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, at any time — from inside the app, or through our Account & Data Deletion page. No email exchange or phone call is required.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or have it erased. Write to us and we will action it. We will not charge you or degrade your service for exercising these rights.

Security

Traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase rather than by us, so passwords never reach our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep data we don't need, which is the most reliable protection there is.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app.
