The United States condemns “firmly” recent acts of violence, pillage, and destruction in the country and encourages dialogue. They recognize, however, that the right to assemble and demonstrate is essential in any democracy.
In a statement issued on the recent civil unrest in Haiti, the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince condemns “firmly the acts of violence, pillage, and destruction perpetrated recently in Haiti, as well as those who have caused these events for their own ends.”
